Dominique Gilbert Named Stitch Central Cougar of the Week

Dominique Gilbert was chosen as Columbus State University’s Stitch Central Cougar of the Week for the week ending on January 30.    

Gilbert led the Lady Cougar basketball team to a perfect 3-0 record. On Monday (1/23), the senior was the offensive hero against Augusta State as she scored 21 points and brought down a season best 15 rebounds. She shot 57.1 percent (8-for-14) from the floor, dished out two assists and stole three balls. Against UNC Pembroke on Saturday (1/28), Gilbert was outstanding again scoring 20 points for the second consecutive game while grabbing 12 rebounds. She also rejected three shots. 

On Sunday (1/29), Gilbert mustered up 10 points, collected 14 rebounds and blocked three shots as the Lady Cougars defeated Francis Marion. The double-double was the third of the week for Gilbert and eighth this season. 

For the week, the Albany, GA native averaged 17 points, 13.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in three games. She also shot 55 percent (22-for-40) from the field.
