Rourke Van der Spuy was chosen as Columbus State University’s Stitch Central Cougar of the Week for the week ending on October 2.
Van der Spuy started his season in style grabbing a top-10 finish at the Sandestin Collegiate Championship. The All-American finished in a tie for sixth place shooting a three-over par 216. The South African fired an opening round four-under par 67 which was just one shot shy of his career low round of 66 which came in the same tournament last season. The senior ended the first tournament of the season shooting rounds of 74 and 75.
The Cougars finished in sixth place overall three strokes behind North Alabama for fifth place.
Columbus State will be hosting the annual Aflac/Cougar Invitational starting on Monday, October 3 and concluding on Tuesday.
