Asha Alexander was chosen as Columbus State University’s Stitch Central Cougar of the Week for the week ending on November 27.
Alexander and the Lady Cougars basketball team had an outstanding weekend as they swept a pair of games in the first annual PBC/SIAC Challenge hosted by Columbus State. On Saturday (11/25), CSU defeated Fort Valley State 84-51 behind Alexander’s nine point and 10 rebound performance. The Cuthbert, GA native posted her first career double-double against Albany State a day later as the sophomore collected 10 points and 10 rebounds as the Lady Cougars went on to win 68-49. With the team behind early in the game, Alexander scored six straight points to knot the game which propelled CSU to the victory.
In the first five games of the season, Alexander has exactly the same number of points and rebounds, 42, for an 8.4 average per game. Her 8.4 rebounds per game average leads the team and is the seventh best mark in the Peach Belt Conference. She also has dished out a team best 15 assists.
Once again, congratulations to Asha Alexander, this week’s Stitch Central Cougar of the Week.
