Brodie Leibrandt was chosen as the Columbus State University’s Stitch Central Cougar of the Week for the week ending on May 13.

After being named to the All-Peach Belt Conference second team Tuesday, Leibrandt showed why he is one of the premier pitchers in the PBC. In the first round of the PBC Tournament, Leibrandt tossed his sixth complete game of the season as the Cougars knocked off sixth-ranked Francis Marion 4-1.

Francis Marion scored a second inning run off the junior before Leibrandt became dominate. Through the fourth inning until the eighth, Leibrandt allowed just three hits while not allowing a runner to reach second base.

In the ninth, the Patriots made things interesting by loading the bases with one-out, however, Leibrandt struck out the final two batters of the game to clinch the victory.

In the 141 pitch effort, the southpaw scattered 10 hits while issuing just one walk. He tied his career high with eight strikeouts.

Out of his 14 starts this season, the southpaw has allowed three or fewer earned runs in 11 of them.

Once again, congratulations to Brodie Leibrandt, this week’s Stitch Central Cougar of the Week.
