Weather Alters Weekend Schedule for Spring Sports
Columbus, Ga. -- The forecast of heavy rains on Friday and the possible aftermath of that rain on Saturday has altered the schedules of the Columbus State University spring sports programs. Baseball has already opened its season, but softball and the men's and women's tennis teams were scheduled to open play on Friday.
In
baseball, CSU was to start a three-game set at West Alabama in
Livingston on Friday. That schedule has now been altered to begin
the series with a single game on Saturday at 4 p.m. and a Sunday
double header at 1 p.m.
The Cougar
softball team was set to open its 2010 slate at the Georgia
Southwestern tournament in Americus, but that event has been
completely cancelled for the weekend. CSU head coach Brad Huskisson
is attempting to schedule a home double header for Sunday, but
final details are not yet available.
The CSU
tennis teams were to have opened the season on Friday against
Tuskegee University, but those matches have been postponed. Head
coach Evan Isaacs is planning to make those matches up at a later
date, but that date has not been set and will be announced later.
The teams' matches at Samford and against Alabama-Huntsville in
Birmingham on Saturday and Sunday are still scheduled to take
place.
