Telesford Named PBC Player of the Week

Columbus, Ga. -- Columbus State senior forward Chris Telesford has been named Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week in men's basketball for the week ending on February 7. The announcement was made by the conference office in Augusta on Monday (Feb. 8).

Telesford, a native of Los Angeles, California, averaged 18.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in two games for the Cougars last week. He scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a tough 92-86 loss to Montevallo at home last Wednesday, and then followed with 17 points and 10 rebounds in a big road win at North Georgia on Saturday.

Telesford shot 62 percent from the floor on the week and also went 5-6 at the free-throw line, averaged two blocks per game, and added a pair of three-point baskets in the two games of the week. He has now taken over the conference lead in rebounding, averaging 8.4 grabs per game.

Telesford becomes the second Cougar to garner the Player of the Week honor, joining Lamar Williams (Dec. 14).

The Cougars return to action on Thursday at the Lumpkin Center, hosting Flagler in a key PBC matchup as CSU fights for the fourth spot in the PBC West Division and a berth in the PBC Tournament.
