Cougars Finish Third at Outback Steakhouse Intercollegiate

Panama City Beach, Fla. -- The Columbus State men's golf team posted the second best team total (299) on Tuesday and vaulted to a third place finish at the Outback Steakhouse Intercollegiate, an event hosted by Catawba College. Peach Belt newcomer Flagler cruised to the team title with a two-day total of 580 (285-295). North Greenville finished second at 600 (300-300).
CSU placed third at 608 (309-299), followed by Newberry at 609 (300-309), and Armstrong Atlantic State rounded out the top five at 618 (307-311). The 15-team tournament was held at the Hombre Golf Club (Par 72, 6831 yards).
Flagler's Joel Dahlenburg (-3) took home medalist honors with a two-day total of 141 (72-69). Teammate Andrew Pressitin finished second at 143 (68-75).
CSU's Justin Grice shot an outstanding two-under par 70 on Tuesday to help lead the Cougars to a third place finish. Grice finished the two rounds at 151 (81-70). Junior Michael Hicks rebounded from yesterday's 79 and carded a one-over par 73. South African Steven Paine had a better showing on Tuesday (77) and finished at 163 (86-77) for the tournament. Ben Kishigian shot 155 (76-79) and Stephen Swanepoel, who fired a 73 in Monday's opening round, injured his wrist in Tuesday's play and had to withdraw.
The Cougars return to Florida (Lakeland) in two weeks for Florida Southern's 54-hole Matlock Invitational on February 15-16.
