Columbus State Men’s Golf Sit in Eighth After Day Two of NCAA Regional
DeLand, FL –Columbus State was two shots short of their first round mark posting a second round score of 296 placing them in eighth place at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional which is being played at the Victoria Hills Golf Club in DeLand, Florida
Jeremy Britt paced the Cougars with a one-over 73 and was followed by Stephen Swanepoel and Rourke Van der Spuy who both posted two-over 74's. Stephen Woodill was the fourth golfer to score for CSU with a three-over 75 while Justin Grice shot a four-over 76.
Similarly, all five CSU golfers are within three shots of each other on the overall leader board. Britt and Swanepoel are tied for 24th with a two round score of 147 (+3), Swanepoel is four-over with a 148 followed by Grice (149, t-42) and Woodill (150, t-47).
Ricardo Gouveia of Lynn leads the field with a three-under 141 through two rounds. Daniel Claytor of Barton College, Jose Joai of Lynn and Michael Marshburn of Barton College are all one shot back at two-under.
Barry sits in first place with a team score of 579. In second place is Lynn (581) while Barton (583), Newberry (584) and West Florida (586) round out the top five.
The final round will conclude tomorrow morning with the first tee times set for 7:30 a.m.
