Columbus State Men’s Golf Finishes Third at Bearcat Golf Classic

Greenwood, SC – The Columbus State men's golf team placed third at the Bearcat Golf Classic ending the event with an 885 after firing a final round score of 300. The tournament was held at the Greenwood Country Club in Greenwood, SC.
USC Aiken paced the field with an impressive three-round mark of 856, 19 shots better then second place finisher Georgia College (875). CSU, Carson-Newman (887) and Newberry College (889) rounded out the top five.
Joel Dahlenburg of Flagler College won the event with a score of 209, three shots in front of Belmont Abbey's Adam Hedges and Newberry's Jon Weiss.
Rourke Van der Spuy shot an even-par 72 in round three to finish the event with a two-under 214, good enough to place him in a tie for fourth place.
Steven Paine posted a three-over 75 on the afternoon as he rounded out the event in a tie for 18th, recording a five-over 221.
Johan Swanepoel matched his round two score of 76 in the final round as ended the tournament in a tie for 32nd with a 10-over 226.
Justin Grice was a stroke behind his teammate for the day and tournament posting a 77 and 227, respectively. The final tally was good enough for a 37th place tie.
Daniel Glidewell had the Cougars drop score posting a nine-over 81 on the afternoon and finished the tournament with a 14-over 236.
Columbus State will now take some time off before it competes in the Peach Belt Conference Championship on April 9 and 10. The tournament will be held at Mountainview Golf Course in Pine Mountain, Georgia.
