CSU Tennis Teams Blank North Georgia on Sunday

Dahlonega, Ga. -- The Columbus State men's and women's tennis teams hit the road on Sunday for a Peach Belt Conference matchup with North Georgia in Dahlonega. The Cougar teams came away with a pair of 9-0 wins. The CSU women, ranked eighth nationally, move to 10-2 overall and 4-1 in PBC play. The CSU men, also ranked eighth, improved to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in PBC play.

In the women's match, CSU's Loriane Favoretto got a tough challenge from Stasa Vujoseciv but prevailed 6-4, 7-5, at number one. CSU surrendered just four games in the remaining five singles matches. The Lady Cougar netters also dominated the doubles competition.

In men's play Martin Shishkov and Nemanja Djuric each had to go to first-set tie-breakers but both won in straight sets. Shishkov defeated 7-6 (9-7), 6-3, and Djuric defeated Parker LaSure 7-6 (7-4), 6-1. Like the women, the Cougars dominated the remaining singles matches as well as doubles play.

Both CSU teams return to action on Wednesday at NAIA powerhouse Auburn-Montgomery.
