No. 9 Columbus State Men’s Tennis Blanks Georgia Southwestern
COLUMBUS – The ninth ranked Columbus State men's tennis team defeated Georgia Southwestern 9-0 Wednesday afternoon at the Mary V. Blackmon Tennis Center. The Cougars, who have yet to lose a set this season, improve to 3-0 while GSW drops to 1-4 on the year.
In singles action, Christophe Noblet and Andre Mordhorst both defeated their opponents 6-3 and 6-0 to get the Cougars rolling. At third singles, Gordan Divljak won both sets 6-1. Pasqual Duttlinger then took down his competitor 6-1 & 6-3 followed by Martin Shishkov taking down his opponent 6-1 & 6-2 and Hendrik Paetzel closed out singles play with a 6-3, 6-2 take down of his foe.
The tandem of Noblet and Divljak, the No. 12 doubles pair in the nation defeated the duo of Cangelosi & Bartz 8-2. Following suit, Shishkov and Filip Cojbasic also won 8-2 over Eastwood and Donnet while Mordhorst and Duttlinger blanked their opponents, 8-0.
CSU has a bit of a break before returning to the courts on Friday, February 25 when it hosts St. Leo in a nonconference matchup. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
