No. 9 Columbus State Defeats No. 11 Flagler in Key PBC Tilt

St. Augustine, FL – The ninth ranked Columbus State University men's tennis team recorded a key Peach Belt Conference victory Sunday afternoon as they defeated 11th ranked Flagler 7-2. The match was played at the Flagler Tennis Center in St. Augustine.
The Cougars (11-1, 2-0) took an early 2-1 lead after winning two out of the three doubles matches. At the top position, the sixth-ranked tandem of Martin Shishkov and Olivier Simonet got back on the winning track defeating Jose Martinez and Stephan Stolz 8-0. Gordan Divljak and Quentin Rayniere gave CSU their second victory on the afternoon after taking down Uriel Oquendo and Inigo Landaluce 8-5. Flagler (5-6, 2-3) registered an 8-4 victory at third doubles as Peter Coulis and Gino Ramirez gave Adi Malicbegovic and Michael Trebuhov their second defeat of the season.
Martinez upset 25th ranked Simonet at first singles 7-6, 6-4 while Divljak put the Cougars back in the win column with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Coulis. At third singles, Rayniere had no problem with Ramirez winning the match 6-0, 6-1. Oussama Zoghlami won his match in straight sets over Landaluce 6-3, 7-5 at fourth singles.
Forty-second ranked Shishkov defeated Adam Hunt 6-4, 7-5 at fifth singles with Danilo Sardelli wrapping the match up with a 7-5, 6-1 victory against Stolz 7-5, 6-1.
Columbus State will have a few days off before facing off with Tuskegee on Thursday, March 15. The match will begin at 3:00 p.m. in Tuskegee, AL.
