Auburn, AL – The Columbus State men's track and field team competed in the Division I heavy field at the 2012 War Eagle Invite Saturday. The meet took place at the Hutsell-Rosen Track in Auburn, Alabama.

Freshman Kris Maragh was the star of the show for the Cougars as he broke the school's record in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. In the 100-meter dash preliminaries, Marah just missed out on qualifying for the finals crossing the line in 10.73 seconds. He was the highest finishing non-Division I athlete and had the third best time of any freshman at the meet.

In the 200-meter dash, Marah was at it again crossing the line in a blazing 21.31 seconds finishing in 11th place. He broke his own previous school record of 21.86 by .55 seconds.

Jeremy Williams also had a good showing in the event crossing the line in 20th place with a time of 21.78 seconds.

The Cougars 4x400-meter relay team of Gerald Chichester, Marah, Joshua Tolbert and Williams placed second with a time of 3:19.70 behind first place Auburn.

In the 5000-meter run, Stephen Bowers finished in a tie for sixth place with a time of 15:27.10. Andy Henderson (15:35.60) and Jacob Mobbs (15.43.40) finished in 13th and 17th place, respectively.
