Columbus State Track and Field Competes in Georgia Tech Invitational

Atlanta – The Columbus State University men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Georgia Tech Invitational this weekend hosted by the Yellow Jackets at the George C. Griffin Track complex in Atlanta.
It was not a full team meet as only a handful of athletes competed in the event for CSU.
On the men's side, junior Jeremy Williams ran his third sub-11 second 100-meter dash time of the season as he crossed the line in 10.94 seconds.
Stephen Bowers also performed well in Atlanta as he broke his personal best time by 21 seconds in the 5000-meter run. Bowers finished fourth in the race with a time of 14:58.14.
For the Lady Cougars, the 4x100-meter relay team of Zanquetta Smith, LaQuita Daniel, Asha Alexander and Shan Crawford showed some rust and battled through injury problems as they finished the event with a time of 46.23 seconds. It was the quartet's third fastest time of the season.
In the 100-meter dash, Crawford ran an 11.85 while crossing the line in 24.02 seconds in the 200-meter dash. Also competing in the 200-meter dash was Daniel and Smith. Daniel had a time of 24.60 while Smith finished in 24.72 seconds.
Chatil Bradford ended her season on a high note as she set a new school record in the shot put. The sophomore had a throw of 13.03 meters.
Columbus State will now await and see which players qualify for the NCAA National Championship that will take place on May 24-26 in Pueblo, Colorado.
