Courtney Darr Selected as Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week

AUGUSTA- Courtney Darr was chosen as the Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week chosen by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Darr was dynamite for Columbus State going 3-0 in the circle while not allowing a single run over 15 innings of work.  In the first game of the week, she came on in relief against Albany State with CSU behind before the Lady Cougars rallied to post a 9-4 victory over the Lady Rams.  Darr allowed just two hits over four innings of work while striking out five.

The sophomore came up big again in relief this time versus Young Harris on Friday afternoon.  After CSU came back to tie the game at 2-2 after 3 ½ innings of action, Darr tossed the final four innings shutting down the Mountain Lions surrendering just three hits to pick up her second win of the week.  The right-hander then made her first start of the season the following day against Young Harris and was spectacular.  She threw a complete game four-hitter while striking out six batters.  The Columbus native held batters to a .167 batting average against for the week.

Darr is the second straight Lady Cougar to win the PBC Pitcher of the Week award as senior Kristi Bullard brought home the honor last week.
