About the Lady Cougars
Columbus State (5-2, 1-0) should be real rested after a nice break for finals for the fall semester. In the last game, the Lady Cougars defeated Montevallo 73-51 in their Peach Belt Conference opener. Preseason All-Conference member, Dominique Gilbert showed her talent dropping 21 points including scoring 17 in the second half. She went 8-of-14 from the field and grabbed a team high eight rebounds. The senior also moved into second place all-time on the CSU block shot list as she now has 68 blocks.
Shan Basley continued to climb out of her shooting slump as she netted 14 points going 4-for-7 from beyond the arc.
The Lady Cougars had their second best shooting performance of the year as they shot 42 percent (29-for-69) from the floor while they limited Montevallo to just a 32.8 percent (22-for-67) performance.
Gilbert is sixth in the Peach Belt Conference in points per game averaging 13.7 points per game. She also has 18 blocks, which is the fourth most in the conference.
As a team this season, Columbus State has stifled their opponents as they have shot just 32.3 percent from the field this season, which is the seventh best mark in the nation.
About the Lady Blazers

About the Tigers
West Alabama (2-6, 0-0) will be entering the Days INNvitational after last Sunday's 77-42 victory over Spring Hill College. The win snapped a five-game losing streak for the Tigers. Jamie Gunter scored 13 points and brought down 13 rebounds off the bench for the Tigers. The double-double was the first of her career. Brittany Weathers was the only other UWA in double figures as she scored 10 points.
Weathers is the leading scorer for the Tigers averaging 16 points per game, which is the sixth best mark in the Gulf South Conference. She is also fourth in the Gulf South Conference averaging 8.3 rebounds per game.
As a team, the Tigers are shooting 20 percent (19-for-95) from three-point range.
West Alabama will take on Coastal Georgia on Thursday in the Days INNvitational before facing off against Columbus State.
Both series histories are very tightly contested with Columbus State leading the all-time series 3-2 over Valdosta State and trailing West Alabama 2-1. CSU has won the past three games against VSU and won the last game against UWA in 2009.
