Augusta – Dominique Gilbert has been named the Peach Belt Conference Player Women's Basketball Player of the Week announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Gilbert was a catalyst for the Lady Cougars this past week as she dominated the stat sheet against Armstrong Atlantic State University and Flagler. In the week's first matchup versus Armstrong, Gilbert netted a season high 24 points including 16 in the first half to give CSU a double digit lead heading into the locker rooms. The post player also grabbed 10 rebounds to register her fifth double-double of the season. The 24 points was one point shy of a career high.
In her second game of the week against Flagler, the Albany, GA native was at it again nearly missing out on another double-double as she poured in 20 points and pulled down nine boards. Gilbert also blocked three shots for the Lady Cougars.
For the week, Gilbert averaged 22 points a game while pulling down 9.5 rebounds a contest. She shot 61 percent (19-for-31) from the field and added five blocks during the week. The senior is now fourth in the PBC in scoring, tied for seventh in rebounding and second in blocks per game.
