#1 AASU Defeats CSU 8-1 in Women's Tennis on Saturday
Columbus, Ga. -- Defending national champion Armstrong Atlantic State came to the Blackmon Tennis Center on Saturday and proved up to its billing as the nation's top team, defeating #8 Columbus State 8-1.
CSU was able to win one point at number three doubles where Gabriela Vasilescu and Sofia Persson defeated the #15 team of Tina Ronel and Kathleen Henry 8-6. AASU won the other two doubles points handily to take a 2-1 lead into singles play.
AASU dominated the singles matches, winning all six positions in straight sets. Top-ranked Sona Novakova blanked Loriane Favoretto 6-0, 6-0 to set the tone.
CSU (8-2) hosts Flagler on Sunday in its second Peach Belt Conference match of the year.
