No. 7 Columbus State Women's Tennis Stays Perfect Against Wingate

Milledgeville, GA – The seventh ranked Columbus State University women's tennis team upped their season record to a perfect 8-0 after a 9-0 victory against Wingate. The Bulldogs are the eighth ranked team in the Southeast Region. The match took place in Milledgeville at the Georgia College Tennis Complex.
The Lady Cougars swept all three doubles matches to jump out to a quick 3-0 lead. At first doubles, Carolin Weikard and Milica Tomic defeated Ali Evers and Becca Thomas 8-2. Paola Cigui and Madeline Johnson lost only one game at second doubles as the CSU duo took down Olivia Poole and Tiffany Williams 8-1. Andrea Redrado and Renata Paiva blanked Kelli Ferguson and Sam Alschlager 8-0 at third doubles.
In singles action, 46th ranked Cigui had no problem taking down Evers 6-2, 6-0 at first singles. Twenty-sixth ranked Weikard got back on the winning track at second singles as she defeated Thomas 6-2, 6-4. Tomic defeated Poole in straight sets 6-4, 6-1 at third singles.
At fourth singles, Johnson took down Morgan Winston 6-2, 6-4. Both Olivera Jokic and Redrado won their matches with ease taking down their opponents 6-2, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-0, respectively.
Columbus State will travel to Florida for the first of three matches in the Sunshine State as they take on Eckerd Thursday, March 8. The match will begin at 3:00 p.m.
