Tallahassee, FL – The Columbus State track and field teams competed in the second day of the FSU Twilight event hosted by Florida State University Saturday evening. CSU athletes participated in six events as the team is gearing up the NCAA Championships which is less than a month away.
In the women's portion of the event, Chatil Bradford competed in the discus throw and placed in 11th tallying a distance of 37.54 meters. Keila Beverly finished in second place in the 200-meter dash crossing the line in 24.03 seconds. Asha Alexander also had a top five finish as the freshman finished in third running the race in 24.72 seconds. Shelisia Crawford finished in 10th place in the event with a time of 26.53 seconds.
The Lady Cougars brought home first place in the 4x100-meter relay as the quartet crossed the line in 47.29 seconds. The team was made up of Keila Beverly, Shelisia Crawford, Asha Alexander and LaQuita Daniel.
In the men's portion of the FSU Twilight, the Cougar team of Jonathan Jones, Gerald Chichester, Yvens Joseph and Jeremy Williams finished the 4x100-meter relay in fourth place crossing the line in 42.71 seconds. Williams also came in 10th place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.32 seconds. Joseph (23.27 seconds) also competed as he finished in 20th place.
Gerald Chichester competed in the final event for CSU as he ran in the 400-meter hurdles. The sophomore finished the race in 14th place with a time of 57.11 seconds.
Columbus State will compete in the North Florida Invitational on May 13th and 14th. This event will be the last regular season competition for the season for CSU.
