Columbus State Track & Field Compete in Day One of NCAA Championships
Turlock, CA – Shan Crawford competed in the 100 meter dash and the 400 meter relay along with teammates Asha Alexander, LaQuita Daniel and Keila Beverly Thursday night at the 2011 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Championships are being held in Turlock, California at the Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium.
The relay team was the first to compete for Columbus State and was off to a good start until the third leg when a couple of runners got their legs tangled and Beverly went down. CSU did not finish the race while Lincoln (MO) University's relay team posted the best prelim time in the event with a time of 44.57. The top eight prelim times advanced to the finals.
In the 100 meter dash, Crawford came up just shy finishing 10th overall in the prelims with a time of 11.76. She was 0.02 seconds off from qualifying for the finals which are being held on Day 2. The junior was an All-American in the event a year ago after finishing fifth at the national meet.
Crawford and Alexander will both compete in the 200 meter dash on Day 2 of the Championships.
