Two CSU Athletes Chosen for NCAA Track Championships Next Week

Columbus, Ga. -- Columbus State University track coach J.D. Evilsizer was notified Wednesday that two Cougar athletes were individual qualifiers for next week's NCAA Division II Track Championships in Charlotte, North Carolina. Shan Crawford will represent the CSU women's team, while Meshach Koyiaki will represent the Cougar men's team.  This will be the first time in school history that CSU has been represented at the NCAA Track Championship. 

Crawford, a Smiths Station graduate, qualified in both the 100 meters and 200 meters. She will be the 10th seed in the 100 and the fourth seed in the 200. Her qualifying time in the 100 was 11.76, while her 200 time of 23.72 was in the top five run nationwide at the D-II level. She was the top female performer for the Lady Cougars at every spring meet.

Koyiaki, the Peach Belt Champion in cross country in the fall, qualified in the 1500 meters. Koyiaki ran a qualifying time of 3:48.58, the 12th-best time in the country this season.
