Recruited as a second baseman, he moved over to third base to fill a vacancy and batted .278 as a junior with nine homers and 35 RBIs, both of which led the club. Returned to his normal second base position as a senior and batted .331 with 12 doubles (a school record at the time). Became the school’s first All-American baseball player when he was named to the NCAA Division II All-American Second Team after being the only unanimous selection to the South Atlantic Conference All-Star team. Had a .302 batting average with 17 doubles, two triples, 11 home runs and 60 RBI’s for his two seasons at Columbus College.
