Philip Montpas was an outfielder on Coach Charles Ragsdale’s baseball team. In 1984, he earned 1st team All-American honors, leading the Cougars to their first World Series appearance. In earning All-American honors he hit .368 with 18 doubles, 13 home runs, and set a single season record with 76 RBIs. In 1983, he hit .411 while earning 1st team All-South Atlantic Region honors. His career batting average of .382 was a school record.
