Achieved a .322 career batting average in three seasons as a catcher for Columbus College in 1977, 79, and 80. Had 16 doubles, 10 triples and 11 homeruns with 83 RBI’s in his three seasons. Set a school record for players with 100 at bats or more by batting .401 in 1979 when he became the first Cougar player to lead the South Atlantic Conference in batting average. Named NCAA Division II Third Team All-American in 1979 and selected in the 15th round of the 1980 Major League Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals.
