Funderburk Garners PBC Player of the Week Honors

Augusta, Ga. - After pouring in a career-high 27 points in Saturday's win over Francis Marion, Columbus State University senior Kenney Funderburk was named the Peach Belt Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, announced by the league on Monday.

The Charlotte, N.C. native had just six points at halftime before taking over in the second half of the game for the Cougars. Funderburk made 8-of-13 field goals in the final 20 minutes to lead CSU to its 85-73 win.

In his final season in a Cougar uniform, Funderburk has tallied double digits in points in each of the teams 11 games this season, and has now crossed the 20-point plateau five times.

The senior leads the Cougars in scoring at 18.1 points per game and ranks fourth in the conference. During league play, Funderburk has raised his game upping his scoring average to 20.2 per game.

At 9-2, CSU is off to its best start since the 2002-03 season when the Cougars started 23-2.

Columbus State takes to the road on Wednesday as the Cougars travel to Americus, Ga. for a date with Georgia Southwestern. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
