COLUMBUS – The Columbus State University women's volleyball team made quick work of Fort Valley State Tuesday sweeping the Lady Wildcats 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-13) in non-conference action. The match took place inside the Lumpkin Center.

Kylie Beaubien led the Lady Cougars with eight kills while hitting .615. The senior didn't make an error in 13 total attacks and also chipped in with two aces.
Savannah Miller had seven kills while
Melissa Murray had five.
Abby King had a team-high 24 assists to go along with three aces.

As a team, CSU hit .267, including a .300 mark in the second set. The Lady Cougars also had 14 services aces while not allowing an ace from FVSU.

"We accomplished our goal tonight," said head coach
Casey Cornett. "We played well as a team and it was great seeing some of our bench players contribute in a big way."

Fort Valley State (5-8) started the match off hot winning the first three points and eventually holding a 7-6 lead. However, CSU won the next seven points to move ahead 13-7.
Sabrina Rodgers had two aces during the run while
Megan Frame had two kills.

The Lady Wildcats broke the streak, but another 8-0 run put Columbus State comfortably ahead 21-9. Services aces fueled the spurt again for CSU as
Zoemy Barreto Pereira picked up two during the span. CSU won four of the final five points to take the set 25-12.

Set two was very similar to the first as FVSU raced out to a 4-0 lead and continued to play well building a 12-8 lead over CSU.

Columbus State (10-6) roared back, winning 15 of the next 17 points to take a commanding 23-14 advantage. Beaubien, Miller and
Ashley Smith all had multiple kills in the spurt. Murray slammed down the final kill to give CSU the 25-16 set win.

The Lady Cougars cruised to an early 10-3 lead to begin the third set after winning six of the first seven points. Murray had three of the 10 points for CSU.

After a CSU service error, Columbus State went on a 10-1 run to build a 20-5 advantage. FVSU was able to salvage a few points before the Lady Cougars put the match away.
Columbus State is on the road this weekend as the Lady Cougars head to Lander on Friday before a Saturday date at USC Aiken. Friday's first serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Greenwood, S.C.
