COLUMBUS – Off to a 3-0 start to the season, the Columbus State University women's basketball team will host Albany State on Tuesday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. inside the Lumpkin Center.

Columbus State led wire-to-wire for an 85-75 victory over Carson-Newman on November 27.

Ashley Asouzu each turned in double-doubles, while
Britteny Tatum scored in double figures as well.

CSU opened the season with an 80-56 victory over Albany State on November 18. The Lady Cougars jumped out to an 11-point lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Carter and Tatum each scored 20 points in the win.

Albany State (1-6) picked up its lone win of the season last Thursday night, defeating LeMoyne-Owen 65-50.

The Lady Rams are 0-3 this season against Peach Belt Conference foes, falling to CSU, Georgia Southwestern and Georgia College.

Albany State's offense has been low-scoring through its first seven games, averaging just 56.9 points per night.

Redshirt-senior guard Zuri Frost leads the Lady Rams in scoring at 12.9 points per night, including 15 in Saturday's loss at Georgia College.

Columbus State currently leads the PBC in field goals made per game, offensive rebounds per game, total rebounds per game and blocks per game. The Lady Cougars rank second in steals per game and opponents field goal percentage.

CSU's defense has been suffocating, holding opponents to 31.0 percent shooting and forcing 29.0 turnovers per contest.

Alexis Carter has registered a double-double in all three games this season, going for 23 points and 11 rebounds in the most recent win over Carson-Newman. Carter enters Tuesday averaging 18.7 points, 11.0 rebounds and 5.0 blocks.

Like her teammate,
Ashley Asouzu has double-doubles in the last two games after missing the season opener. Asouzu sits at 14.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per night.

Britteny Tatum is off to a strong start as well, scoring in double figures in each of the first three games. The senior point guard in averaging 16.0 points in just 24.7 minutes per game.
