YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – After a dominating first quarter performance, the Columbus State University women's basketball team coasted to a 74-55 victory over Young Harris. The Peach Belt Conference game took place inside the YHC Basketball Arena in Young Harris.

Tatiana Wayne scored over 20-points for the second consecutive game leading the way for the Lady Cougars with 22. LeeAysia Williamson continued her solid run as she poured in 19. Aryan Dozier grabbed a season-high nine rebounds in the win.

"I loved the intensity we came out with from the get-go," said head coach Anita Howard. "We're down multiple bodies and on the road but today was indicative of what our team can accomplish when we get rolling from the tip."

Columbus State led from the get go as the Lady Cougars raced out to an 11-0 lead just over a minute into the game. Young Harris managed to stifle off the attack responding with seven of the next nine points to make it a 13-7 game midway through the quarter.

The Lady Cougars would continue to keep their foot on the pedal scoring 12 unanswered points to go in front 25-7. Williamson was huge in the spurt putting up eight points in the span.

CSU's lead continued to balloon in the second quarter. The Lady Cougars went on another prolonged run, this time outscoring the Mountain Lions 13-4, to take a commanding 38-14 lead with 4:29 until halftime. The 28-point lead was the largest advantage of the day for CSU.

Young Harris was able to cut the margin to 38-22 at the break after scoring the half's final eight points.

In the second half, Columbus State's lead never dipped below double figures. YHC was able to cut the margin down to 12 on a couple of occasions, but never really threatened. After an YHC layup made it 54-42, the Lady Cougars proceeded to put the game away. CSU would score the game's next nine points thanks to its outside shooting. Anna Stewart hit on a three before Williamson iced the victory with back-to-back treys.

As a team, CSU shot 35.2 percent (25-for-71) and 19.2 percent (5-for-26) from beyond the arc. The Lady Cougars turned 24 YHC's turnovers into 29 points while the bench chipped in with 35 points.

Columbus State will look to extend its winning streak to five on Wednesday hosting Flagler. The game will be Senior Night for four Lady Cougar players. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. inside the Lumpkin Center.
