WINGATE, N.C. – In the second meet of the season, the Columbus State University men's and women's cross country teams each took sixth place at the Bulldog Stampede Saturday. The meet was held in Wingate, N.C.
Wingate took home the team title on the women's side while Mount Olive captured the men's race.
Tanzanie Brown and
Macey Voorhies were the top duo on the course in the women's race for Columbus State. Brown snagged a top-10 finish completing the 6k course in 23:24.1 to take ninth. Voorhies finished 21
st, finishing the course in 24:05.3.
Eva Salazar Torres was the next Lady Cougar scorer finishing the race in 24:43.4 to grab 29
th place.
Brianna Sattinger crossed the line in 24:57.4 for 36
th place while
Cynthia Lopez-Jordan clocked in a time of 25:35.4 to finish 50
th.
Hannah Hutchens wrapped up the 6k course in 29:21.6.
Leading the way once again for the Cougars, Charles Asouzu placed 18
th in the grueling 8k race. The senior posted a time of 27:07.4 on Saturday. Matthew Moulton and Christopher Oswald ran in tandem over the course taking 25
th (27:25.5) and 28
th (27:34.9) places, respectively.
John Scarborough completed the course in 28:23.6 to take 41
st while his teammate Carl Corley finished 44
th in 28:35.7. Noah Churchwell (29:20.3, 64
th), Kaden Ellis (29:25.3, 68
th), and Wright Calhoun (29:56.9, 81
st) also ran for the Cougars.
Both teams will head to Morrow, Ga. to compete in the Clayton State Challenge on Friday, Sept. 27.
