COLUMBUSÂ - The Columbus State University women's basketball team beat Peach Belt Conference rival Flagler College 74-62 inside the Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center on Saturday afternoon.Â
With the win, the Lady Cougars improve their season record to 2-1 (2-1 PBC) behind a team-high 22 points and five 3-pointers from freshman Olonna Rawls. As a team, CSU was hot from the floor as well shooting 44.8% from the field and 41.4% from outside the 3-point line.

How It Happened |
First Half |
The first 10 minutes of the game were filled with 3-pointers from Rawls (two), Emilia Tenbrock (one) and Jurnee Smith (one), helping the Lady Cougars to a 21-17 lead after the first quarter. Flagler stayed with Columbus State throughout the half but the Lady Cougars never went behind. Amber Abusbeih pushed CSU ahead by six points at the beginning of the second quarter with a layup in the paint. With forty-four seconds left in the half, another 3-pointer from Tenbrock stretched it to a 10-point lead. The Lady Cougars went to the break up 42-35. |
Second Half |
Another 3-pointer from Rawls and a fastbreak layup from Aryan Dozier, quickly stretched the lead to 12 early in the second half. Five more quick points by the Lady Cougars, including a successful and-one from Chrisalyn Boston gave CSU its largest lead of the night at 17, 56-39. Flagler responded though with a 7-0 run before the end of the third quarter to cut the lead into single digits. To start the fourth quarter, buckets by Boston and Rawls stretched the Lady Cougars lead back to 11, 60-49 with 8:16 remaining in the game. Midway through the quarter, Flager put together one last comeback attempt by cutting the lead to five off of a Beka Benge 3-pointer. However, crucial 3-pointer's by Abusbeih and Kyrstin Bond halted the Saints' run and iced the game. |
