VALDOSTA, Ga. - A fourth-quarter comeback attempt came up short for the Columbus State University women's basketball team on Saturday as the Lady Cougars fell 62-56 to Eckerd College on the second day of the Valdosta State University Thanksgiving Classic.
CSU (5-2) was down 15, 61-46, with 4:55 to play before a 3-pointer by
Olonna Rawls jumpstarted the Lady Cougar offense. However, the 10-1 Columbus State run over the final minutes was a little too late to complete the come-from-behind victory.
Rawls fueled Columbus State's offense as the sophomore scored 21 points to go along with five rebounds, four steals and three assists. She was 5-for-11 from 3-point range.

Imani Arnold had 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Both teams were hot in the first with Columbus State holding a 19-18 lead after the first 10 minutes of play. However, CSU shot just 15.4% (2-for-13) in the second quarter as Eckerd built a 31-26 lead at the half. EC closed the first half by scoring eight of the final nine points.
The game was decided in the third quarter with Eckerd getting hot from deep. The Tritons connected on 4-of-6 3-point attempts to build a game-high 19 point lead, 55-36, before the start of the fourth.
Columbus State shot just 29.9% (20-for-67) as a team and was 9-of-38 from beyond the arc.
Ragnheidur Einarsdottir had 18 for EC, while Maya Price had 13-point, 11-rebound double-double.

Columbus State will have a week off before returning to the court against the University of West Florida on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 3 p.m. in Pensacola, Fla.
GAME NOTES
• Arnold had six steals on Saturday. She has collected four or more steals in five of the first seven games of the year
• CSU took a season-high 38 3-point attempts. It was the most 3-point attempts since the Lady Cougars took 39 against Albany State University on Nov. 17, 2018.
• It was the first time this season Columbus State shot below 30% from the floor
• The Lady Cougars were 36-for-67 (53.7%) at the free throw line over the VSU Thanksgiving Classic
• EC's bench outscored CSU's 16-7
