COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University men's and women's track and field teams will compete in the two-day Montevallo Falcon Classic hosted by the University of Montevallo this weekend.
The event will begin Friday, March 19 at noon before concluding on Saturday.
Columbus State is looking to add more top-10 finishes to its tally after the teams had eight top-5 showings at the Mississippi College Season Opener two weeks ago.
Nate Blackmon,
Gavin Nembhard,
Ryan Conn and
William Player all grabbed top-5 performances in Mississippi for the Cougars.
Blackmon added two to his resume with a second and third place finish in the men's long jump and the triple jump. He jumped 6.98 meters in the long jump before leaping 14.10 meters in the triple jump.
Nembhard also placed within the top-5 in the triple jump as the freshman took fourth with a 14.09 meter jump.
Player and Conn were fourth and fifth in the pole vault for the Cougars. Player posted a mark of 4.41 meters, while Conn had a 3.96-meter showing.
For the Lady Cougars,
Alli Hay and
Macey Voorhies were the top performers in Mississippi. Hay grabbed first place in the 5000-meter run with a time of 18:16.35. Voorhies had her top-five finish in the 500-meter run as she crossed the line in 4:57.56.
