Women's Basketball Looks To Get Back on Track Against Georgia College

The Lady Cougars are looking to win their fifth in a row against the Bobcats.

COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University women's basketball team will look to snap a three-game losing streak on Saturday when long-time rival Georgia College makes its annual trip to the Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center. Tipoff is at 1:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
• After holding a halftime lead, CSU's offense went cold in the second half allowing Georgia Southwestern University to grab a 74-64 victory over the Lady Cougars on Wednesday. Imani Arnold continued her good work scoring a team-high 18 points for CSU. Olonna Rawls (14) and Emilia Tenbrock (12) were both in double figures in scoring. 

CSU NOTES
• CSU will close out the month of January with a 4-4 record with a win on Saturday
• Wednesday night was the first time all season that Columbus State failed to record 10 or more steals. CSU is still third in the nation (DII level) in steals per game (15.4)
• Columbus State leads the PBC in free throws attempts (419) but is second to last in free throw percentage (58.5%)
• Chrisalyn Boston is one of just three players in the PBC to average nine or more rebounds per game. She grabs 9.2 boards per game to pace CSU. The senior is also fourth in the conference in blocks per game (1.4). 
• The Lady Cougars (10-9, 3-6) are currently eighth in the PBC standings but are just a half-game back from fifth.  

SCOUTING GEORGIA COLLEGE
• Georgia College (5-13, 2-7) enter Saturday on a six-game losing streak, with back-to-back forfeit losses (due to COVID-19 protocols). GC's last game was on Jan. 19 against Young Harris College, a 63-47 loss.
• Ashyia Willis (12.4 ppg) and Harper Vick (12.0 ppg) are the main threats for the Bobcats. Willis adds 3.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. 
• GC averages 51.8 points per game, the lowest in the PBC. GC is also dead last in scoring margin (-11.2). 

SERIES HISTORY
• CSU and GC are founding members of the Peach Belt and have been meeting on an annual basis since the 1990-91 season. Columbus State leads the all-time series 38-28, including winning four in a row. 
• The Lady Cougars won the only meeting between the schools last season in Milledgeville. Tenbrock scored 15 to lead CSU to the 60-40 win on Feb. 27, 2021.
