Lady Cougars Travel to Face PBC-Leading Hurricanes

Columbus State is currently fourth in the PBC standings with four games to play.

COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University women's basketball team will look for an upset road victory on Wednesday night at Peach Belt Conference leaders Georgia Southwestern University. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m. in Americus, Ga.

LAST TIME OUT
• CSU (13-11, 6-8 PBC) grabbed a much-needed 76-56 victory over Clayton State University on Saturday in Morrow, Ga. Imani Arnold scored 19, while Chrisalyn Boston had a great night with a 15-point, 21-rebound double-double  

CSU NOTES
• The Lady Cougars are currently in fourth in the PBC standings, holding a tiebreaker over Clayton State for the spot. The top eight teams advance to next month's conference tournament, but the top four teams will host a quarterfinal game on March 2
• Boston earned the PBC Player of the Week award on Monday after averaging 14 points and 16 rebounds. She posted just the 11th 20-rebound performance in CSU history in the win over Clayton State and became the first Lady Cougars to win the award since Nov. 18, 2019.  
• CSU has shot above 40% in four of its last five games 
• Columbus State (72.5 ppg) is one of just three PBC teams averaging over 70 points per game. Lander University (80.5 ppg) and Georgia Southwestern (75.7 ppg) are the others 

GEORGIA SOUTHWESTERN NOTES
• The Hurricanes (21-3, 13-2) are continuing their historic season, already setting a program record for wins in a season (NCAA era)
• GSW has won eight straight games, including knocking off then-ranked No. 3 the University of North Georgia on Feb. 5. The last three wins by Georgia Southwestern have all been by double-digit margins 
• Four players are averaging at least 10.5 points per game for GSW, with Ava Jones (15.4 ppg) leading the way. Jones scored 22 in the first meeting against Columbus State on Jan. 26.
• Georgia Southwestern is one of the best defensive teams in the nation, ranking seventh in turnover margin (8.21) and total steals (310), while being 12th in field-goal percentage defense (33.9%)
• GSW has never won the PBC regular season or tournament championship. The Hurricanes are currently a half-game ahead of Lander in the standings with a game looming between the Bearcats on Saturday

SERIES HISTORY 
• Georgia Southwestern has won the last three meetings over Columbus State following its 74-64 win in Columbus on Jan. 26. GSW rallied in the second half after the Lady Cougars held a 42-35 halftime lead
• However, Columbus State is still up 25-5 all-time over the Hurricanes
