Lady Cougars Look to Secure PBC Tournament Home Game

With a win over the Bobcats, CSU will be the fourth-seed in the upcoming PBC Tournament

COLUMBUS - Looking to clinch a home game in the upcoming Peach Belt Conference Tournament, the Columbus State University women's basketball team wraps up the 2021-22 regular season on Saturday at Georgia College. Tipoff is at 3:30 p.m. in the Centennial Center in Milledgeville, Ga.

LAST TIME OUT
CSU (15-12, 8-9 PBC) cruised to a 30-point road victory, crushing USC Aiken 65-35 on Wednesday. Chrisalyn Boston posted her ninth double-double of the year with a 16-point, 12-rebound performance.

CSU NOTES
• The Lady Cougars currently control their own destiny for seeding purposes in the upcoming PBC Tournament. CSU sits in fourth heading into play and will secure the seed with a win. However, with a loss, it opens the door for Clayton State University or Augusta University (who play on Saturday) to jump the Cougars in the standings.
• CSU sits in the eighth spot in the latest NCAA Southeast Region rankings released on Wednesday. The top-eight teams advance to the NCAA Tournament
• The Lady Cougars are looking for their first four-game road winning streak since winning three in a row to end the 2017-18 season and the first road contest of the 2018-19 campaign
• CSU leads all NCAA DI and DII teams in steals per game. The Lady Cougars average 15.6 steals per game, while Imani Arnold (3.04 steals/g) ranks 10th (DII level)
• Boston ranks 3rd in the PBC in rebounding (10.0 rebs/g), while Amber Abusbieh (12.6 ppg) is 12th in scoring
• Columbus State is 8-5 on the road this season

GC NOTES
• Georgia College (8-18, 5-12) is mathematically eliminated from the PBC Tournament. GC could end the season in an eighth-place tie, but the Bobcats would lose a tiebreaker to Flagler College for the berth into the tournament
• GC has lost four straight, including a 103-68 defeat on Wednesday night in St. Augustine, Fla. against Flagler.
• The Bobcats rank last in the PBC in scoring offense (54.3 ppg) and scoring margin (-11.7)
• Harper Vick (12.5 ppg) and Ashyia Willis (12.4 ppg) can put up points.
• Georgia College is third in the PBC in rebounding margin (1.3), trailing only the University of North Georgia and Lander University
• The Bobcats have played well inside the Centennial Center going 4-5 in 2021-22 season
