Women's Basketball Looks For Revenge Against Flagler

Flagler defeated CSU 71-69 in Columbus on Jan. 5.

COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University women's basketball team will try for its third win in a row on Saturday as the Lady Cougars travel to St. Augustine, Fla. to take on Flagler College. Tipoff is at 1:30 p.m. 

LAST TIME OUT
• CSU (12-9, 5-6 PBC) forced 35 turnovers to run away with a 79-70 win over USC Aiken on Wednesday night in Columbus. The Lady Cougars used a 22-0 run to close out the first half to build up a 26-point lead before cruising to the victory. 

CSU NOTES
• Columbus State is in search of its first three-game winning streak since starting the season 5-0
• With her six blocks on Wednesday, Chrisalyn Boston moved into 11th-place in the PBC record book for career blocks.  Boston has 162 in her four-plus year career and needs just six more to move into 10th
• CSU is 12-0 when shooting over 36% from the floor
• Columbus State now leads the nation (DI and DII level) in steals per game (16.0). 
Imani Arnold (13.2 ppg), Amber Abusbeih (12.5 ppg) and Olonna Rawls (11.0 ppg) are all averaging at least 11 points per game. Arnold (11th) and Abusbeih (14th) are both inside the top-15 in the PBC
• Columbus State is 2-2 on the road in conference play this year. Overall, the Lady Cougars are 5-4 in true road games in 2021-22

SCOUTING FLAGLER
• The Saints (10-11, 4-7) are on a three-game losing streak after dropping a tough 62-60 decision at Georgia College on Wednesday
• Tori Pearce (17.4 ppg, 7.3 reb/g) is continuing her great year for FC. The senior is third in the PBC in scoring and has scored 12 or more points in all by two games this year
• Jaziana Mathis is averaging 13.9 points and is shooting 32% (31-for-97) from 3-point range.
• Flagler is currently tied for sixth in the PBC standings. CSU, who is in fourth, and FC are separated by just one game

SERIES HISTORY
• Columbus State leads the all-time series 15-4 over Flagler since the two teams began playing during the 2008-09 season 
• FC was able to sneak out a 71-69 victory over the Lady Cougars in Columbus on Jan. 5. after hitting a go-ahead 3-pointer in the closing seconds
