Lady Cougars Welcome Augusta For PBC Tournament Quarterfinals

CSU is 9-1 all-time against Augusta in PBC Tournament action.

COLUMBUS - After ending the regular season with momentum, the Columbus State University women's basketball team will host Augusta University in the 2022 Peach Belt Conference Tournament quarterfinals on Wednesday, March 2 at 5:30 p.m. inside the Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center.

LAST TIME OUT
• Led by a 21-point, 10-rebound double-double by Jurnee Smith, CSU (16-12) rolled to a 70-57 win over Georgia College. CSU outscored GC 25-10 in the first quarter and never looked back. Chrisalyn Boston posted another double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds

CSU NOTES
• Columbus State enters the PBC Tournament as the fourth seed after winning four of its final five games. CSU won two must-win road games over the final week to clinch the home game
• CSU has a 43-23 overall record in PBC Tournament play, including winning five championships. The Lady Cougars won three titles in four years from 2014 to 2017
• CSU has won seven straight quarterfinal games. The last loss was in the 2013 edition of the championship
• This is the second appearance for CSU under head coach Matt Houser. The Lady Cougars reached the 2020 PBC Tournament semifinals 
• The Lady Cougars are looking to snap a two-game home losing streak. CSU is 6-4 in games played in Columbus
• CSU leads the nation (DII) in steals per game (15.5), are third in turnovers forced per game (25.42), and sixth in turnover margin (8.04)
• Individually, Imani Arnold is fifth in the nation in steals per game (3.08)
• Four Lady Cougars average 10 or more points per game. Amber Abusbeih (12.5 ppg) leads the way followed by Arnold (12. ppg), Olonna Rawls (10.7 ppg) and Chrisalyn Boston (10.4)
• Boston is still looking to climb the PBC all-time block list. The graduate senior is currently seventh in PBC history and second in CSU history with 175 rejections
• Columbus State was eighth in the most recent NCAA Southeast Region rankings. A new edition will be released prior to tipoff on Wednesday

AUGUSTA NOTES
• Augusta (15-12) is also entering the postseason hot, winning four of its last five games to climb enter the fifth position. AU won a 61-60 game at Clayton State University on Saturday to jump the Lakers in the standings
• The Jaguars are 6-6 on the road but are 3-0 since Feb. 12
• November Morton leads the team in scoring with an 11.1 point per game average and is third in the PBC in 3-point shooting (36.4%)
• Zairya West is second on the team with 41 made 3-pointers
• Kennedi Manning averages 10.8 ppg and 7.7 rebs/g. She has five double-doubles in 2021-22
• AU plays tough defense beyond the arc, ranking 17th in the nation in 3-point field goal defense (25.8%)
• Augusta won the first two PBC Tournament titles in 1992 and 1993; however since then, the Jaguars haven't returned to the title game 

SERIES HISTORY
• Columbus State won the only meeting between the two schools on Jan. 15 in Augusta. CSU rallied to force overtime and went on an 11-2 run in the extra period to claim the 74-70 win
• The scheduled meeting in Columbus on Dec. 20, 2021 wasn't played due to COVID-19 protocols
• CSU leads the all-time series 43-12
• The Lady Cougars have won 9-1 against the Jaguars in PBC Tournament action
