Cougars Drop Game Three Against Mountain Lions

YHC scored 13 runs to win the three-game series against CSU.

COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University softball team dropped the third game of the Peach Belt Conference series against Young Harris College on Sunday, April 10. Young Harris scored 13 runs to give the Mountain Lions a 13-2 victory in five innings.

Columbus State falls to 19-19 (9-6 PBC) while Young Harris improves to 18-16 (9-9 PBC).

YHC started the game hot, scoring three quick runs off of four hits and a walk. After a two-run RBI double, Haylee Folds entered the game to relieve CSU starting pitcher Hannah Rose Corbin. The Mountain Lions didn't have any problem against Folds, adding two more runs to give YHC the early 5-0 lead.

Morgan Curley hit her third homer of the series in the top of the second, this one being a solo shot to center field and putting YHC ahead 6-0.

The Cougars got a run on the board in the bottom of the second thanks to a fielding error made by YHC's second baseman, allowing Laura Harris to score from third base.

The Mountain Lions did more damage in the fourth, scoring four runs off of one two-run homer and two RBI singles.

Morgan Elston jacked a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth to minimize Young Harris' lead.

Corbin received the loss and is now 13-8 inside the circle. Folds recorded three strikeouts in 2.2 innings pitched. Columbus State posted four hits, including one each from Caitlyn Canady, Paige Vincent, Elston and Harris.
