BERRY, Ga. - The Columbus State University track & field teams competed in the Berry Field Day Invitational over the weekend in its final tune-up before next week's Peach Belt Conference Championships.
CSU brought a light squad to the meet with only a handful of student-athletes competing over the weekend. The women's team scored 33 points and finished tied for eighth, while the men tallied 33 points as well to finish in seventh.
Marcellus Sells was Columbus State's top finisher as he grabbed second place in the 400-meter hurdles. He finished with a time of 55.59 in the grueling event.
In the field events, Gavin Nembhard was third in the triple jump (14.14m), while Jackson Fulks was third in the long jump (6.71m).
Alesia Johnson was impressive in the 400-meter dash on the women's side, sprinting to finish in third place in just over a minute (1:00.13).
Eronda Doss was also a top-three finisher in the long jump. She had a mark of 5.19 meters to finish in third.
Elsewhere, Savion Taylor competed in the War Eagle Invite hosted by Auburn University. The Cougar ran well in the DI event, finishing in seventh place with a time of 1:50.38 in the 800-meter run.
