COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University women's basketball defeated the University of North Georgia 62-52 Saturday afternoon inside the Frank G. Lumpkin, Jr. Center in Columbus. CSU improves to 10-6 (4-4 PBC) and moves to fourth place in the PBC standings, while UNG falls to 14-3 (6-2 PBC) and remains second in the conference.
The Lady Cougars and Nighthawks both came out of the locker rooms scoring, finishing the first period 15-16, with UNG leading. North Georgia outscored CSU 11-5 in the second, heading into halftime with a 27-20 lead.
However, CSU shocked UNG in the second half, exploding with offensive power. The Lady Cougars minimized the Nighthawks' lead to one (38-39) after the third quarter, and CSU kept that energy going in the final 10 minutes, outscoring UNG 26-13 to secure the victory on Herbert Greene Court.
NOTES:
- Four Cougars scored in the double-digits, including Emilia Tenbrock (17), Amber Abusbeih (14), Letiya Reeves (12) and Olonna Rawls (10).
- Rawls posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
- Abusbeih shot a perfect 100 percent (8-for-8) from the free-throw line.
- Reeves tallied seven rebounds and Maya Jackson grabbed six rebounds.
