COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University Department of Athletics released the fall 2023 academic outcomes and the CSU athletic teams posted above a 3.0 grade-point average for the term with 59 percent of student-athletes achieving a 3.0 GPA or higher.
"As good as Columbus State athletics can be on the field or court, it pales compared to the achievements that our student-athletes have reached in the classroom," said Interim Director of Athletics Jay Sparks. "To have an overall cumulative department GPA of above a 3.0, and considering we have 14 sports and almost 300 athletes, this is a monumental feat that should and will be celebrated across our campus."Â
Of the 59 percent of student-athletes recording a 3.0 GPA or above, 15 percent (42 student-athletes) made perfect 4.0s in the fall semester, while 44 percent (124 student-athletes) achieved at least a 3.0.
Women's soccer ranked the highest among all Cougar teams, making a 3.73 team GPA and tallying 13 student-athletes with 4.0s.
