COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University women's basketball team defeated Peach Belt Conference rival Flagler College 80-74 Saturday, Feb. 4 inside the Frank G. Lumpkin, Jr. Center. The Lady Cougars extend their win streak to three games and improve to 13-7 (7-5 PBC). Flagler drops to 6-16 (3-9 PBC).
Columbus State had a tough start against the Saints, trailing by two points after the first period of play. However, the Lady Cougars found their focus and dominated the Saints in the second quarter, outscoring FC 23-11 and taking a large, 38-28 lead to end the first half.
The Lady Cougars kept that offensive momentum going into the third, extending their lead by the most of 13 points. Flagler did not give up, though, as they came within five points with just 38 seconds left in the game. It was not enough for the powerful Lady Cougar defense, though.
