Women’s Basketball Announces 2023-24 Signing Class

Columbus State University head women’s basketball coach Matt Houser has announced the signing of six new comers.

COLUMBUS - Columbus State University head women's basketball coach Matt Houser has announced the signing of six new comers; Samara Saunders (Grayson HS), Amamda Ogbonna (Wheeler HS), Sophia Williams (Evergreen Valley HS/ Chico State University), Bre'lyn Snipes (Shaw HS/ Kennesaw State University), Jasmine Stevens (Forest Park HS/ Presbyterian College/GA Highlands), and Lacy Robins (Statesboro HS/Georgia Southern/Tennessee State).

"We are extremely excited to announce these six new members of the program," said Houser. "These girls are going to add great depth to our roster as well as increase our talent level helping us reach our goal to continually be a nationally recognized program. I want to thank my staff in their tireless work with recruiting these amazing young women."

The Cougars had two post players in the 2022-23 season, but with the addition of Stevens, Saunders and Ogbonna, CSU will have great talent with post play as well as great depth.
What Houser says:
"Jasmine will be coming in with D1 experience and a level of maturity that will impact both sides of the ball. Samara and Amanda are both incoming freshmen but have shown they are going to be a handful already. With their amazing ability to go inside and out it helps our system of how we want to get out and score."

Houser is signing three standout guards in Robins, Snipes and Williams to the roster, who can play both sides of the ball.
What Houser says:
"Lacy Robins, who had to sit out last season, is a very rare player. Lacy brings D1 length to our defense and she is a great at attacking and scoring. She will be making an immediate impact as well as the two new guards. Bre'lyn is a transfer from D1 Kennesaw State and brings immediate length on the defense side as well as scoring mentality. Sophia is transferring from Chico St and she comes in with athleticism that fits perfect in our system, and the ability to shoot the ball at a high clip. We could not be more excited about these amazing players, but more importantly they are amazing Student- Athletes that keep elevating our program."
