COLUMBUS - Columbus State University Women's Basketball travels to Fairfield, Ala. on Saturday evening for a 6 p.m. ET matchup at Miles College.
The Lady Cougars (2-1) take on the Golden Bears (0-0) in their season opener at Knox-Windham Gymnasium.
Scouting the Golden Bears
Miles open the season on Saturday night and return to action after a 23-7 record a season ago. The Golden Bears were SIAC Tournament Champions and made an appearance in the NCAA Division II Regional First Round.
Iemyiah Harris returns for her senior campaign as the leading scorer from last season. She averaged 16.9 points per game in 30 appearances, shooting for 35.3% from the field, 31.5% from three, and 81.5% from the foul line. She also led in steals averaging 2.7 per contest and assists with 3.6 per game.
The Golden Bears return their top four point-producers from last season and will look to continue their successes into this season. Pete Asmond will embark on his third season at the helm of the program with a 44-15 overall record as the head coach.
Previewing the Lady Cougars
Columbus State looks to return to their winning ways as the Lady Cougars slipped in a narrow defeat at Francis Marion (S.C.) on Wednesday night. Leading the charge are three ladies with double-digit scoring averages.
Letiya Reeves leads with an average of 14.7 points per game while
Olonna Rawls is just behind with a 14.3 scoring average. Bre'Lyn Snipes has tallied an average of 12.7 points per game as well.
Off the glass, Rawls leads with an average 7.0 rebounds. In addition,
Kristyn Goshay leads with an average of 4.3 assists while Snipes averages 3.0 steals and 2.3 blocks per game.
As a team, CSU averages 87.3 points per game and holds a 10.3 scoring margin. The offense is shooting for 32.3% from the field, 31.9% from three, and 70.4% from the foul line. Defensively, the Lady Cougars hold an 8.3 turnover margin and total an average of 16.7 steals per game while averaging 4.3 blocks per contest.
Columbus State holds a 3-0 overall record over Miles and last defeated the Golden Bears on Nov. 10, 2023 in Columbus.
