COLUMBUS – No. 23-ranked Columbus State University Women's Basketball heads south to the beach on Tuesday with a clash at West Florida in Pensacola, Fla.
The Lady Cougars (3-2) will challenge the undefeated Argonauts (4-0) at 6:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday night in the UWF Field House.
Scouting the Argonauts
West Florida has opened the season with a 4-0 record and welcome the Lady Cougars to Pensacola for their home opener on Tuesday night. UWF averages 84.3 points per contest for a 19.8 scoring margin.
Leading the way for the Argonauts is Haidyn Pitsch who averages 20.3 points per game while shooting for 48.3% from the field and nearly 92% from the foul line. UWF also has three others averaging double-digit points this season in Rylie Stephens (17.0), Liv Becker 12.3), and Bella Green (10.5).
Off the glass, Green leads with an average of 8.8 rebounds per game ahead of Stephens with an average of 7.5 boards. Defensively, Bella Stone leads with an average of 2.5 steals per contest. As a team, UWF averages 22.3 points off turnovers and average 11.3 steals per game.
West Florida is led by Stephanie Lawrence Yelton who is in her 13th season at the helm of the program. She has totaled a record of 210-134 as the head coach of the Argonauts. The all-time series is drawn at 4-4 with CSU taking the last matchup in Columbus back on Dec. 2, 2022.
Previewing the Lady Cougars
Columbus State looks to bounce back after Saturday's loss at Tuskegee. CSU is 3-2 on the season and are averaging 78.6 points per game with a scoring margin of 8.2. As a team, the Lady Cougars are shooting for 38.9% from the field, 29.9% from three, and 78.2% from the foul line.
Defense has been crucial in the success of Columbus State, notching an averaging of 3.2 blocks per game as well as 17.8 steals per contest for an average of 28.0 points of turnovers.
Bre'lyn Snipes averages 1.6 blocks per game as well as 2.6 steals while scoring 12.0 points per contest.
Letiya Reeves leads with an average of 16.0 points per game and 3.8 rebounds.
Olonna Rawls follows with an average of 14.6 points and a team-leading 6.4 rebounds per contest.
