Lady Cougars Basketball Faces Eckerd on the Road on Saturday

CSU tips off at 2 p.m. ET in Lakeland, Fla.

COLUMBUS – Columbus State women's basketball hits the road and heads south to the Sunshine State to take on Eckerd (Fla.) on Saturday afternoon. Saturday's game will take place in Lakeland, Fla. at Florida Southern College due to the aftermath of the hurricanes earlier this year in the St. Petersburg, Fla. area.
 
The Lady Cougars (6-2) will take on the Tritons (5-2) in non-conference action in the third all-time meeting between the two programs.
 
Scouting the Tritons
 
Eckerd is riding a two-game winning streak and last played on Dec. 4 at Saint Leo (Fla.), securing a 70-57 SSC win. The Tritons averaged 64.7 points per game with a 3.1 scoring margin. As a team, EC is shooting for 40.6% from the field, 34.4% from three, and 70.2% from the foul line.
 
There are three players that are averaging double-digit points this season with Chance Bucher leading the charge with 16.0 ppg followed by Jaylen Ostenson with 12.3 ppg, and Ieva Korzane with 10.7 ppg. Bucher also leads the rebounding efforts with an average of 9.6 boards per contest. Korzane dishes out a team-leading 2.7 assists per game while Ostenson leads with 1.7 steals per contest.
 
Previewing the Lady Cougars
 
Columbus State is looking to continue its solid form of play as of late, riding a three-game wave of wins. The Lady Cougars return to action after the tight 64-60 win at Georgia College back on Dec. 7.
 
The triple-threat of Letiya Reeves, Bre'lyn Snipes, and Olonna Rawls continue to be the leaders for CSU offensively. Reeves averages 14.8 ppg followed by 13.8 from Snipes and 13.1 from Rawls. Rawls crashes the boards and gathers an average of 6.9 rebounds per contest and leads with 3.5 steals per game as well.
 
As a team, CSU averages 75.4 points per game and has produced an 8.6 scoring margin. The Lady Cougars have shot for 38.1% from the field, 29.6% from three, and 77.9% from the foul line this season.
 
Columbus State and Eckerd last met during the 2021-22 season with CSU falling 62-56 in Valdosta, Ga. at the Valdosta State Thanksgiving Classic.
