Columbus State Women’s Basketball Hosts Faulkner on Friday Afternoon

The Lady Cougars host one final home game before the holiday break

COLUMBUS – Columbus State women's basketball hosts NAIA opponent Faulkner (Ala.) on Friday afternoon for the final home game before the holiday break.
 
The Lady Cougars (6-3) welcome the Eagles (5-7) to the Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center for a 1 p.m. ET matchup for the first meeting between the two programs.
 
Scouting the Eagles
 
Faulkner will step on Herbert Greene Court on Friday for their fourth exhibition of the season while Columbus State will count the game towards their record. The Eagles are 5-7 on the season and are coming off a 67-49 road win at Stillman (Ala.).
 
As a team, Faulkner averages 65.9 points per game while shooting for 39.3% from the field, 28.3% from three, and 62.1% from the charity stripe. On the offensive side, Ruthie Smith leads with an average of 15.3 ppg across 12 contests while Morgan Holland DeWitt has notched an average of 17.0 ppg in just two games played. Keyarra Steward averages 11.3 ppg as well.
 
Smith leads with 7.4 rebounds per contest followed by Sydney Steward with an average of 5.8 rebounds. Steward also leads the team with 4.6 assists per contest and 1.7 steals per game.
 
Previewing the Lady Cougars
 
Columbus State is looking to return to the win column after dropping a road loss to Eckerd (Fla.) on Dec. 14. CSU is averaging 72.9 ppg while shooting for 36.9% from the field, 28.5% from three, and 74.9% from the foul line.
 
The Lady Cougars average 13.0 assists per game with Olonna Rawls and Kristyn Goshay leading the way with average of 2.6 assists each while Sophia Williams averages 2.0 per game. As for scoring, the expected trio of Letiya Reeves, Bre'lyn Snipes, and Rawls are the top three scorers for CSU with Reeves and Snipes leading with an average of 14.3 ppg each.
 
On the defensive side of things, CSU averages 15.9 steals per game and will turn around and score an average of 24.2 points per game off turnovers. Rawls leads with 3.2 steals per game followed by Snipes with 2.7 and Reeves with 2.4. Off the glass, Rawls leads with an average of 6.6 rebounds per game with Williams totaling an average of 4.8 boards.
