COLUMBUS – Peach Belt Conference action opens on Saturday afternoon as the Columbus State Women's Basketball program travels to Milledgeville, Ga. for a matchup at Georgia College at 1:30 p.m. ET
The Lady Cougars (5-2, 0-0 PBC) will challenge the Bobcats (6-2, 0-0 PBC) in the Centennial Center in the first PBC clash of the 2024-25 season. CSU holds a 32-16 record against GCSU and is currently on a 10-game winning streak against the Bobcats.
Scouting the Bobcats
Georgia College is coming off an 87-83 loss at Southern Wesleyan (S.C.) on Wednesday night after beginning the season with a 6-1 record. The Bobcats average 69.3 points per game and have recorded a 14.8 scoring margin.
Leading the offensive efforts is Evie DePetro who averages 13.8 points per game and a 41.9% field goal percentage. Ashyia Willis follows closely with an average of 12.5 points per game. Off the glass, Jada Warren dominates with an average of 12.4 rebounds, leading with two assists per game and an average of one block per contest.
Defensively, GCSU has held opponents to 54.5 points per game and averages 4.5 steals per game on an average of 13.9 turnovers, scoring 15.5 points per game off turnovers. Chandler Davis leads with an average of one steal per game.
Previewing the Lady Cougars
Columbus State is currently on a two-game winning streak with their most recent victory being the 66-56 win over Wingate (N.C.) a week ago in the Frank G. Lumpkin, Jr. Center. The Lady Cougars averaging 77.0 points per game with a 9.3 scoring margin.
CSU is led offensively by the trio of
Letiya Reeves,
Bre'lyn Snipes, and
Olonna Rawls. Reeves is the leading scorer with an average of 15.9 points followed by Snipes' average of 13.3 points. Rawls rounds out the top scorers with an average of 13.1 points per game.
Rawls also leads in rebounds with an average of 6.7 boards and in steals with an average of 3.6 steals per game.
Kristyn Goshay leads with an average of 4.3 assists per game while Rawls is second with 3.1 assists per game.
Columbus State has held their opponents to 67.7 points per game and have relied heavily on the defensive production to win games. Opponents have given up an average of 26.6 turnovers per game with the Lady Cougars notching 17.1 steals per game, scoring an average of 25.0 points per game off turnovers.
