Box Score COLUMBUS - On senior night, the Columbus State University women's basketball team breezed past the Sand Sharks of the University of South Carolina Beaufort 70-43. The Lady Cougars improved to 16-9 overall and 12-5 in conference play with the win. With the loss, the Sand Sharks fall to 9-16 overall and 5-12 in the PBC.
USC Beaufort started off strong, putting up 17 points in the first quarter, only trailing Columbus State by one. The second quarter saw USC Beaufort struggling to keep up, as CSU continued to dominate, posting a 32-25 lead going into the half.
In the second half, the Lady Cougars pulled even further ahead, scoring an impressive 21 points in the third quarter alone. USC Beaufort ultimately fell short as Columbus State sealed their victory with a final score of 70-43, capping off the night with a win for their three seniors,
Amber Abusbeih,
Olonna Rawls, and
Bre'lyn Snipes.
Letiya Reeves led the Lady Cougars in scoring with 14 points.
Olonna Rawls (13) and
Bre'lyn Snipes (10) also scored in double digits for Columbus State.
As a team, Columbus State shot 37.3 percent from the field, 29.0 percent from behind the arc, and 68.8 percent from the charity stripe.
